Cardioprotective effects of exercise training on doxorubicin-induced cardiomyopathy: a systematic review with meta-analysis of preclinical studies

Abstract Doxorubicin (DOX)-induced cardiotoxicity in chemotherapy is a major treatment drawback. Clinical trials on the cardioprotective effects of exercise cancer patients have not yet been published. Thus, we conducted systematic review and meta-analysis preclinical studies for to assess efficacy training DOX-induced cardiomyopathy. We included with animal models cardiomyopathy from PubMed, Web Sciences Scopus databases. The outcome was mean difference (MD) fractional shortening (FS, %) assessed by echocardiography between sedentary trained DOX-treated animals. Trained animals improved 7.40% (95% CI 5.75–9.05, p < 0.001) FS vs. Subgroup analyses revealed superior effect execution prior DOX exposure (MD = 8.20, 95% 6.27–10.13, 0.010). assessment cardiac function up 10 days after completion protocol also associated size 7.89, 6.11–9.67, 0.020) an over 4 weeks.
